aaarrrggghhhh..

A long, long time ago...
I can still remember
How that music used to make me smile.
And I knew if I had my chance
That I could make those people dance
And, maybe, they’d be happy for a while.

..well, it's really been a long long time that I went on the playfield - and today I realized it really has been a long time. Two hours of nets could make me realize what two years of ignorance could not - that time flies by, and one becomes old! In essence, I went to warm my cricketing skills up in the nets today morning, after a cruel gap of four years (last I played Cricket was during our IIMK-IIMB sports meet days I guess, back in 2004). With the first time I rolled the arm over today, got a cramp - second brought a hamstring - third back pain, and the fourth one a ligament tear - well, almost..

Guess will go back to some light routine in next few days, once this pain subsides. And then, some regular stuff.. I swear, this time is for real.

Of interests and choices...

This post relates to an individual who has been an epitome of hard work - it has been more than 30 months now that he has been working in his present firm, and by normal MBA standards, it is A LOT!!

Individual in question would be called 'S'. Let me iterate a few of his traits - he is one of the most knowledgeable individuals I know; he has diversified interests and those interests vary from construction and civil engineering (he is not a civil engineer) to HDTV videos on BBC, from interior designing to Rajasthani Handlooms and marble craft; his fan following includes me (hehe..); he is one of the few guys who like Mumbai (!!!); and he is content with his life (I am sure this facet will call for a debate, but let's see if S comes to this post and debates it; otherwise, the post stays as it is!)

I am not a hard nut to crack, and I break quite easily - though one needs to know how to do it. S has been one person who doesn't even need to tread that far - with him, it is auto play. More than two years in last five - I've spent telling him the most innate instances, and have blurted out things even I hardly knew. I am sure everyone has an outlet, and it's just a matter of time you realize who is yours, for a specific amount of time.

Talking professionally about S, he has been right on the doorsteps of his dream job for last two years, and as I speak here, I wonder if he has ventured and grabbed the opportunity that he has been promised for a long long time. His is, I believe, a glamorous job, if taken in right sense. I mean, there are a few “jobs that pay the rent”, and there are some which you would love to do even with a hefty cut, because you know that you won’t really be working, but having fun and having a gala time all the way through. Being a guide is something I have a craving for, and I know for sure I’ll venture into it professionally or personally in due course of time. Just that now is the time for the “jobs that pay the rent”. :(

Well then, S has also been someone who would rather go for something he desires than what the society would want him to – I have had innumerable discussions with him on this, and I try to convince him more often than not, to look for better avenues (atleast financially), and he also confirms my thoughts in essence, but when it comes to real execution, he falls back on the much appreciated self satisfaction in the current work place, with all the promises of getting right kind of opportunities soon enough.

I wish S gets the taste of his favored cuisine soon enough.

IIMK at Night ..

Joined GB

Yet again, it's been a long long time, since I came over here and had a go at the blog.
Anyways, here I am.

Sunday, May 15 (I think) it is.

Let me rewind myself for some time, and think of what all I've done in last month. I went to Bangalore, took up Intel. Went back to Delhi, refused Maruti. Then, came to Mumbai-Bangalore-Trivandrum. Met DK et al, and Chadha in Mumbai. Glorious as ever. Then went off to Bangalore, where couldn't meet many people. 294 inmates were back to home, and I was wondering what I was doing there for 2 days. Tried getting onto Tarun as well, but as usual, hard luck. Met Deepika just before leaving the place.

Then came Trivandrum. Day 0, and I am on work. The work is awesome. Interesting. With responsibilities. Only Concern being, I've gotta stay here alone. Let's see how things shape up in the days to come.

So, people are nice here. I try and spend as much time as possible around them.

Back to the day at present. We are diversifying. Getting into a turnaround project. Would be interesting, but will surely ask for a lot of effort. M ready for everything, as long as it keeps me busy.

Comparison

Watching 3 movies in a day is no big deal.
Watching 3 movies, back-to-back, in a day, can also be done without much of a problem.
Watching 3 sagas, starting from one end, to intermingle in itself at the other end, is not as easy as it seems to be.
I am talking about Fight Club / Don Quixote de La Mancha / Scent of a Woman.
Those of who who know about all of these, would have to agree with me, that each story is in itself, a heavy dose. An identity, waiting to be revealed, in one way or the other. Brad Pitt, Al Pacino doing the honors most of the time, with the narrator of Fight Club, Edward Norton, and Chris O' Donell doing the fightback. Truly amazing.
I have the most striking features of the movies in the other posts..If you can make out anything from them, well & good. Or else, get up first thing in the morning, and look for these gems.
Every new time you see these movies, you'll rate it much higher than you did the lat time you saw it.
You bet!
Whooo..ahhh!

Classes

With due respect, such are the best moments, in a classroom.
Cherished the most.
Cheers!

Quick Glance at last few days, and the days to come !

With the narrowing down of the list of movies I haven't seen, its getting too difficult to think what to do at times, especially when the classes are getting on to the possible minimum. No classes today, 3 hours tomorrow, 3 hours the day after, none after that for 3 days, then 2 days of classes, followed by none for a week. What follows it is a four hour class, again to be followed by a 5 day break. I wonder if this really is the MBA life, with nothing to do except thinking ways of killing time.
Agreed that we can do lot many other things as well, like writing papers, reading books, preparing Business Plans (Ahem!) , and yes, blog and spurt out all you could....Interestingly, the former couple of things don't happen all the time. And the latter one is what I am left to do, anyhow. Phew!, what a couple of days these were. Wrote as many papers, b-plans, etc etc in the last week, as I havent even written in my whole life. And now that the deadline is over, I am left out to do nothing at all again.
Its cool to know that people have started getting jobs. GE's worth it. Another one's going over to Morocco. (No, these people are not from IIMK, but from my gud ol' DCE). Seems like everyone's climbing up the ladder, with me still there, waiting for my turn. I am still skeptical about infy, and don't know at all what to do. Heaven's grace may guide me on what to do.
In the meantime, the relations with people are also getting affected with this uncertainty. Whatever much I try, it doesn't seem to be casual at all. I've started getting this feeling that as their session is nearing completion, I am not needed anymore. Out of sight, out of mind is a causal effect. Not that it matters much when I am in-sight though.
Just a couple-of-days, and I hope that either it would be as it should be, or it would be as it would be. Ultimately, the difference of opinions and a matter of preferential choice will set in. Have tried to keep back all the blurting out, but the dam's filling in.
Next couple of days to be critical.

Best!

I am not Drunk (Hic!)

I had eighteen bottles of whiskey in the cellar and my friends insisted I empty the contents of each bottle down the sink, or else...
After careful consideration, I reluctantly agreed and finally proceeded with the unpleasant task. I withdrew the cork from the first bottle and poured the contents down the sink with the exception of one glass, which I drank.

Then, I withdrew the cork from the second bottle and did likewise with it,with the exception of one glass, which I drank.

I then withdrew the cork from the third bottle and poured the whiskey down the sink which I drank.

I pulled the cork from the fourth bottle down the sink and poured the bottle down the glass, which I drank.

I pulled the bottle from the cork of the next and drank one sink out of it, and threw the rest down the glass.

I pulled the sink out of the next glass and poured the cork down the bottle.

Then, I corked the sink with the glass, bottled the drink and drank the pour.

When I had everything emptied, I steadied the house with one hand, counted the glasses, corks, bottles, and sinks with the other, which were twenty-nine, and as the houses came by I counted them again, and finally I had all the houses in one bottle, which I drank.

I'm not under the affluence of incohol as some tinkle peep I am. I'm not half as thunk as you might drink. I fool so feelish I don't know who is me, and the drunker I stand here, the longer I get. I'm not drunk you shilly sit!

Better late..than never..!!

Boy oo Boy!
What a time it has been, since I last visited this place.
Seems like eternity.

And I truly missed it like hell. Was wondering all these days what could have been the password to this Blog. Silly me. Who else forgets not only the password, but the username as well. hehe.

Now then, what shall I jot down here. I dont even remember when I last posted. I dont think I hav posted anything in this term. So, I wud start with the holidays, preceding this term.

What a time it was. Getting home, having nice food, those feelings, that care, going shopping, doing teeny-weeny things, calling all friends again and again, collecting stuff from here and there, scheduling time as if one needs 48 hours in a day. And yes, that most famous get-together at home, which brought out the best amongst everyone. Atleast it gave a hearty laugh, proved a gathering. I wish for such gatherings in the times to come.

And yes, how can I forget the time I spent with Shuchidi. Taking her to shop around, which proved to be as boring as it could possibly be. But doesnt matter; relax chap, it was for her wedding.
:)

Then the journey back to College. Starting the preps for the all new IIMK-IIMB sports meet. And yes, above all, the all-famous accident. Now I recall why I couldnt post earlier. This thing could never cross my mind, as I was hardly able to type.

Then missing those practice sessions, which I wudn't have missed for anything. Going over to Bangalore, just to escape from the thought that I couldnt participate any longer, in the sports meet. It broke me to pieces, but thats the way it was meant to be. Went to Bangalore, and stayed with Aasheesh, Tarun, Vicky et al. Though had a nice time, but not even for a moment could I forget that my visit to B'lore was just a pity escape from the thoughts I would have had, while being at campus.

Coming back to K. Healing gets slower & slower, day by day. It was, as if, a race was going on, between the healing, and my patience. The worst time here at K for me.

Come IIMB team, and I get involved. If not very much in playing, then in organising the stuff. Could play Football only in that leg of sports meet. Couldnt play Cricket, neither could swim, for the good, and now old, reason. Shastry also comes. He's fun.

Now the reverse leg, to be held at IIMB. Again, unfit. Still, determined to play. Be it Baddy, Volley or Soccer. Carrom is a different matter altogether. Can't lose out on any of them.

Lost Soccer (obviously), won Baddy (team being invinsible), and went down, after giving an unexpected fight, in Volley. Then the night comes, and at this time, I have slept only 4 hours in last 3 days. Still, I insist on Carrom being played on that very night.

To start with, Doubles. The worst I could be in temperament. Had chances in all the 8 boards; even tried to apply my sick and fickle mind, but to no avail. At last, lost the doubles match, with "I" being the worst of the 4 players playing that match.

I had lost all my senses. Had become a zombie. Still, dunno what urged me to ask for playing Singles, I had to take my pride into my stride. It was a matter of my pride, my passion now.

And my competitor, the simplest of all guys in today's times, Prithu. I did not even want to play my natural "negative" game against him, looking at his innocence, and simplicity. We start the game.

First board, we start. Woop.! All 9 of my coins on the board, and his coins up. He leads by 12 points.

Thats a mishap for me. Enuf is enuf. It cant get worse than this. I have never lost a singles match in Carrom ever, in a tournament. Was it going to happen this time? I hope not.

Dont know what I got into. Next few boards, I pull it off. I win 28-12.

I could never have imagined it, if I would have lost the match. I still cant get it. How can I get into such a miserable position??

Anyhow, its over now. We come back to K. Take our exams. And start off with the normal life. And yes, planning for an inter-hostel sports meet. Atleast regain the confidence here.

Thought of trying to recover my blogger ID and password, and got it. So, here I am, as I type these words, again a zombie, at 4o'clock in the morning.

I wish you were here, whosoever you are! I dont know, and I dont care. All I know is, I know nothing.

Cheer up buddy. Way to go!

Another week

Well well, yet another week gone..
Did nothing in this one as well, as usual.
Didnt even write any paper for Vista or Confluence; and mind ya, I had good reasons for the same. huh, all crap. But wont stay like this for ever. Have made up my mind to take up some projects from now on. More lively, the better it would be. Also, would get into Germany's visitor list soon.

Getting bored by watching the same movies again n again n again. Sometimes I wonder which movies r left that I havent seen...Absolutely free ..nothing to do.

And yes, thinking of making something again for the gud ol' DCE ppl..lets see how it shapes up..
Its just that it'll take lots of time, and m sure wont b as creative as earlier..the earlier one was the best I could do, and no improvements possible over that.

Gotta think in terms of ITC, OCD, teamgreen, and Loreal soon.

Thats it. Gotta think what to do now.

Down :(

The day, well, what should I say, was simple one of the worst ones I hav had since I entered IIM..
Never ever has this much disgrace come my way..simply unexplainable..Was so much disgusted, even when I should not have been the one to be blamed..or maybe, it should hav been me..
No..nothing at all..
Not answering the only question asked, even when I spent 3 hours last night preparing this ppt, and then, the worst of all..
weak, huh, my foot..
I gotta make it right, somehow or the other..
tomorrow's a crucial day..and I m gonna prove it for sure, and that too, soon enuf..
m on a low..trying to get to the lowest it could possibly go, but even the dose wasnt enuf i guess..and dunno what I should do..
May this phase go over asap.

Amen!

Exams over..

Now then, the mid-terms (hah) are over, I can get back to something fruitful now. those enviro and dce ppts that i made, i guess, did what they intended to.. atleast some of the members of the group responded, remembering the good times.

So, its fun time for now..
although lots of stuff needs to b done, like the ERC project, SCAM project (which I know nothing about), and yes, SM project, which i havent even started even yet.
lots of work, but then, deadlines are meant to b just met..
so, all the work would be done, only when it should.

Thinking of going to Banglore, on bike (yipee)..people said yes earlier, but are skeptical now, as the heavens are pouring down like anything now-a-days..
Even the clouds keep coming into the room, making everything moist n wet..
uhuhh...coming back to the visit to banglore, I really really wanna go to bang..
there are lot many people there..Aasheesh, Vishal, Akshay, Tarun, Deepika, Amit, etc etc..

The list goes on and on..and i hav to meet all of them..
lets see how the thing shapes up..Dunno for sure, but maybe if nobody agrees, I'll set out alone..

I know I should not, but..lets see, how it shapes up..
All the best for the journey then..

cheers

The prophecy has begun..

The new year at IIMK began on an exciting note, with the conclusion of yet another memorable trip. This time, neither it was Ooty, nor Bekal. Neither Bandipur, nor Kodaikanal. Neither Mahe, nor Munnar.
this time, it was Coorg, a gem of a place.
The place was absolutely fabulous. with constant rains pouring, we never found ourselves out of clouds. Its really like staying in heaven, even when u r alive.

With mahendra playing the Captain's knock, the arrangements were more than satisfying. With wise words here and there, the comments of the intellect were really upto their standards.

After getting back from the trip, as usual, hectic schedule began, with the assignments pending and the cases yet to be solved. Anyhow, deadlines were met, as they are meant to be, and no casualties occured.

M still thinking whether to lead a hectic life this year, by taking loads of subjects, or to lead an easy life. Brand management is a helluva nice subject to take, and with Sridhar coming over to take it, I dont think I can afford to miss it. But again, the load factor comes over. Lets see what shapes up.

And yes, on a personal note, i am a bit happy again, for the daily mails which i started again today.

Woods r lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

The Coorg way..the road less travelled
